After meeting your tour guide, you will depart to Lungshan Temple, founded by the immigrants from Fukien in 1738, this ancient temple was built to dedicate the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy (Kuan-in in Chinese). In addition to the Goddess of Mercy, the main hall and rear hall have also worshipped the Taoist Gods and Goddesses, such as Wenchang Dijun, Zhusheng Niang Niang, Huatuo Xianshi and more. The local people come here to pray for school entrance exam, pregnancy, good health, etc. More specially, you can ask God for advice by throwing “jiao bei”, a pair of red crescent shaped pieces of wood. Yes or No, you’re the only one to know the answer to your question.

The next stop is just nearby Lungshan Temple. Herb Lane is a 45-meter long narrow alley, from the entrance to the end, it will surprise you with various medicine herbs. Stores with a huge variety of unusual herb piles together with the fragrance of different types of herb will ease your mind.

The next stop is Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, an impressive monument in memory of Taiwan’s former president Chiang Kai-shek. Surrounded by white walls with blue-tiled roof, the park contains an archway, a square, and a garden. If you arrive on the hour during 09:00-17:00, you may have a chance to watch an amazing guard changing ceremony.

After that, you will go to Taipei World Financial Center, or widely known as Taipei 101, one of the tallest building in the world. You can go to the observatory deck of the building to see a panoramic view of Taipei city (ticket is not included) or enjoy some shopping time at the mall. From fast fashion items to luxury goods, you can always get something you want there.

After a lunch break, now it’s time to learn about history at the National Palace Museum, which houses a huge collection of nearly 700,000 pieces of ancient Chinese artifacts and artworks throughout 8,000 years from the Neolithic period. Don’t be disappointed if you don’t have enough time to look carefully at all of those awesome art pieces, because there are still a lot to blow your mind in the next stop!

The last stop is Dadaocheng, a traditional place inside a modern city. In Dadaocheng, you will be able to wander around streets and alleys with a rich mixture between East and West, past and present, traditional and modern, presenting on all of the early modernist store buildings. Similar to Herb Lane, you can find many herbal stores here, but other than that, there are many coffee shops, mini art galleries and shops that can make you want to spend your whole day in this area.

At the end of the tour, your tour guide will say goodbye to you after escorting you back to your hotel, giving back your free time to explore this beautiful city by yourself.
